Full job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Yard Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our scaffolding yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, coordinating logistics, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring efficient handling of scaffolding equipment.

Duties

Oversee all yard operations, ensuring efficient loading, unloading, and storage of scaffolding materials
Manage stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and maintain accurate records
Supervise yard staff, including labourers and forklift operators
Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained, and fit for use
Enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards
Organise the yard layout to maximise space and operational efficiency
Monitor and report damaged or missing equipment
Assist with planning logistics to meet project deadlines
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard at all times

Experience

Proven experience in a yard management role, ideally within scaffolding or construction
Strong knowledge of scaffolding materials and equipment
Good leadership and team management skills
Familiarity with health and safety regulations (e.g., HSE standards)
Forklift licence preferred
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Basic IT skills for inventory and reporting systems
