Job Overview

Covering Lancashire & South Cumbria

Office/Home based

We are looking for a person who can provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to adults with or suspect they have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The role will help individuals develop strategies for managing everyday life, improving organisation, building confidence, accessing services and achieving personal goals.

The postholder will also deliver the Adult ADHD Training course, workshops and group sessions for adults with ADHD. These sessions may focus on executive functioning, time management, emotional regulation, wellbeing, confidence, employment skills, communication and independent living.

Duties

Provide one-to-one, strengths-based support to adults with ADHD, following an agreed care plan.
Work with individuals to identify personal goals, barriers and practical support needs. Support people to develop strategies for planning, prioritising, organisation, time management and task completion.
Help individuals manage appointments, paperwork, routines, budgeting, communication and access to services where appropriate.
Encourage confidence, self-advocacy, independence and positive decision-making.
Provide emotional support and help individuals identify strategies for managing stress, overwhelm, impulsivity and emotional regulation.
Maintain clear professional boundaries and promote choice, dignity and independence.
Keep accurate, timely and confidential support records.
Plan, prepare and deliver the Adult ADHD course, facilitating workshops and group sessions for adults with ADHD.
Deliver practical and engaging sessions on topics such as understanding ADHD, managing executive function, creating routines, planning and prioritising, workplace strategies, wellbeing and self-advocacy.
Adapt course materials to suit different learning styles, concentration levels, communication preferences and support needs.
Use clear structure, visual resources, regular breaks, interactive activities and practical tools to support engagement.
Create a supportive, non-judgemental environment where learners feel safe to participate and share experiences.
Assess learner needs, set achievable goals and monitor progress.
Record attendance, feedback, outcomes and progression information.
Signpost learners to relevant specialist services, peer support, education, employment and wellbeing opportunities where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with service users, carers, health professionals, education providers, employers and other support services, with the individual’s consent.

Essential Skills

Ability to build trusting, respectful and professional relationships.
Ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication to individual needs.
Good written and IT skills, including record keeping and use of online learning or communication platforms.
Commitment to neurodiversity-affirming and person-centred practice.
Ability to be positive, empathetic, patient and non-judgemental
Confident in motivating and encouraging others.
Able to remain calm and supportive when people are distressed or overwhelmed.
Committed to promoting independence, confidence and inclusion.
Experience of delivering workshops, training, group activities or learning sessions.

Desirable Skills

Experience of supporting adults with ADHD, neurodivergence, mental health needs, learning differences or additional support needs.
Experience of supporting adults with co-occurring anxiety, depression, autism, learning disabilities or social isolation.
Experience of developing accessible learning materials.
Understanding of ADHD and its potential impact on executive functioning, attention
Qualification in counselling, coaching, community learning, adult education or a related field
Training or experience in ADHD coaching, neurodiversity support or executive-function support
Teaching, training or assessor qualification.

Pay: £28,598.00-£29,540.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Great Harwood BB6
