Power Resilience is critical to Thames Water's ability to provide safe, reliable services to millions of customers. We are expanding our Power Resilience capability to strengthen how power is planned, maintained and enhanced across our operations. We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help shape a coordinated, data-led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.
What you’ll be doing as a Power Strategy Manager:
The Power Strategy Manager is a key role in setting the strategic direction for the new Power Resilience team. You will work closely with key stakeholders and the Head of Power to develop our multi-AMP Power roadmap, prioritise where Power Resilience investment can deliver the greatest value and support future innovation, digitisation and reporting.
As Power Strategy Manager, you will play a leading role in establishing Thames Water’s dedicated Power Resilience capability. You will be responsible for creating a single strategic view of Power Resilience across Thames Water operations, enabling the business to manage Power risk through interventions that reduce outages and improve system reliability.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will help shape future ways of working and bring their expertise to create lasting positive impact across Thames Water.
Base location: Location can be flexible for either London or Thames Valley (e.g. Hampton, Maple Lodge, Reading & Slough)
Working pattern or hours: Hybrid - 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Key responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Organisational Capability: You will lead, support and develop a team of professionals, helping them achieve their potential while supporting future internal capability development.
- Power Strategy and Transformation: You will lead the creation, implementation and adoption of strategic initiatives to deliver resilient, compliant and data-led power operations across Thames Water.
- Data, Insight and Digital Transformation: You will champion initiatives that enable real-time visibility and analytics of power-related data, helping to inform and prioritise Power Resilience interventions.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Portfolio Integration: You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. DNOs, NESO, Ofgem) to support infrastructure planning, delivery of business objectives and regulatory compliance.
What you should bring to the role?
- Senior management experience in utilities or a related sector, with a proven track record of leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams and strategic programmes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance frameworks, with the ability to adapt to changing regulations as required.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence at senior levels while building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading digitisation and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience with HV/LV systems and auxiliary power systems (desirable).
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:
- Competence in electrical engineering design or relevant industry experience, with the ability to interpret and develop technical documentation and standards.
- Advanced knowledge of digitisation, data management and analytics.
- Supplier and contract management.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to review and approve documentation ready for wider approval.
