HGV Technician (Late Shift) 4 on 4 off

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. The ideal applicant will possess a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, including lorries, excavators, and forklifts
Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, then perform necessary repairs
Carry out fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as required for repairs or modifications
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair or replace components
Maintain accurate records of work carried out and parts utilised
Assist in the realignment and calibration of vehicle systems to manufacturer specifications
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies
Support the team with heavy lifting tasks and equipment handling to facilitate repairs or installations
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations

Qualifications

Proven experience in electrical and mechanical repair of heavy vehicles or plant machinery
Strong knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical systems
Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly processes
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts
Experience in equipment repair, maintenance routines, and troubleshooting techniques
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle maintenance or engineering are desirable but not essential
Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a customer-focused approach
