The role:
The NHS GGC Central Laundry, based at Hillington, is looking to recruit a highly motivated and assertive individual to join the Laundry Production Team. You will be responsible for processing linen, packing linen and on occasion check linen stock on Hospital Sites with the support of a linen co-ordinator or assistant manager.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
There are 2x permanent posts of 36 hours per week available.
This role is based at Hillington Laundry, 1 Jubilee Court, G52 4LB.
The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 07.30-15.30
Key responsibilities:
The laundry assistant is responsible for the safe use of a range of laundry equipment and machinery. A summary of these responsibilities is listed below.
For all equipment usage and production processes it is imperative that staff are aware of required production targets, work to achieve these and record these on the required production sheets in line with the standard operating procedures.
To ensure downtime is kept to a minimum and efficiency of machinery is kept to maximum, the laundry assistant will assess problems that occur during machinery operation to determine if they can be resolved using agreed fault finding approaches or whether further assistance is required.
Start up and close down, safely and efficiently, all finishing equipment conveyor belts and other electrical equipment e.g. fans, heaters etc used in the laundry facility (with the exception of the Continuous Batch Washer [CBW])
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Required to undertake on the job training and induction on all laundry equipment as required and to possess a full understanding of the safe working of all equipment and machinery within the laundry. The training programme will last approximately 9 to 12 weeks

Working knowledge to operate all machinery including start up H&S checks

Working knowledge Health & Safety including participation in Health & Safety training courses in house over two half day sessions

Refresher training ongoing as required or once per annum or determined via competency checks half day sessions

Infection control training and quality control procedures

Basic understanding of I.T. systems and use of these in the laundry

Auditing own work to ensure linen issued is clean, dry and is fit for purpose

Ability to work with others as part of a multi disciplinary team

Ability to work out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
Supporting “Continuous Improvement” to maintain /improve both quality and efficiencies, ensuring that Hillington Laundry remains at the forefront with regards technology and new ways of working
