Full job description

Are you an experienced Purchase Ledger professional looking for your next opportunity? We're on the hunt for a detail-driven Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our busy finance team.

This role is ideal for someone with a proven background in high-volume invoice processing and a strong understanding of utility billing. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a demanding workload while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

What You'll Be Doing

Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
Matching, batching and coding invoices across a multi-site, multi-company environment
Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice discrepancies promptly
Managing utility invoices, ensuring accurate allocation, validation and timely payment
Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve account queries
Preparing payment runs and ensuring supplier payments are processed within agreed terms
Maintaining accurate purchase ledger records and supporting documentation
Processing CIS-applicable invoices correctly
Monitoring outstanding invoices and ensuring compliance with company policies
Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes, including accruals and reconciliations
Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc administrative and accounting duties

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role
A track record of working in a high-volume processing environment
Experience processing and reconciling utility bills (electricity, gas, water and other utilities)
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers and colleagues

Desirable:

Working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and good Excel skills
Experience in property, student accommodation, facilities management, utilities, or a similar multi-site environment

Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
