Registered Children's Home Manager

Location: Aberdare, Wales
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Lead Our Brand-New Children's Home

Are you an experienced and passionate Registered Children's Home Manager looking for the opportunity to shape a new service from the very beginning?

We're seeking an inspirational leader to manage our brand-new children's residential home, opening in October 2026. This is your chance to build a strong, child-centred culture, recruit and develop your own team, and create a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can achieve positive outcomes.

As the Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and full compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) regulations.

About the Role

As the Registered Manager, you will:

Lead the day-to-day management of the children's home, ensuring children receive outstanding care and support.
Create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) regulations and the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
Recruit, lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing staff team.
Promote a positive culture that puts children and young people at the heart of everything you do.
Oversee safeguarding practices and ensure the welfare of every child remains the highest priority.
Manage budgets, staffing, rotas, and resources effectively.
Build strong relationships with local authorities, education providers, healthcare professionals, families, and other partner agencies.
Monitor quality, performance, and continuous improvement across the service.
Participate in the management on-call rota and provide leadership support outside normal working hours when required.

What We're Looking ForEssential

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification recognised in Wales).
Experience managing or deputising within a children's residential setting.
Excellent knowledge of Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) regulations and children's residential care standards in Wales.
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and children's rights.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
The ability to motivate, develop, and inspire a team.

Working Hours

Your standard working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential. You will be expected to participate in the on-call rota and provide support outside normal working hours when required to ensure the smooth operation of the home.
