As we move into this exciting new era, we are looking for a reliable Assistant Dispatch Manager to join our team.
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to play a key role in the day-to-day management of our Dispatch operation.
Working closely with the Dispatch Manager, you will help ensure the efficient running of the department, supporting the delivery of customer orders in full and on time while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, hygiene and health & safety.
You will lead and support Dispatch Operatives, coordinate staffing requirements, oversee operational performance, and act as deputy to the Dispatch Manager when required. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys leading people, solving problems, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of daily dispatch operations across the business.
- Deputise for the Dispatch Manager when required.
- Ensure customer orders are dispatched accurately, efficiently and on time.
- Manage staffing requirements, holiday cover and absence management.
- Conduct return-to-work interviews, performance reviews and staff check-ins.
- Assist with training, coaching and development of Dispatch Operatives.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene procedures.
- Maintain accurate records relating to traceability, stock control and operational activities.
- Carry out stock checks on finished goods and coordinate basket return processes.
- Monitor and report BASCO stock levels.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Planning and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing, logistics, warehousing or dispatch environment.
- Strong people management and team leadership experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience monitoring attendance, performance and staff development.
- A flexible approach to working hours and business requirements.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using Cybake or similar operational systems.
- Experience within the food manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality standards.
