About The Talbot Inn

We are an independent public house situated in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands. The Talbot is a family-friendly public house serving high quality traditional meals and a wide range of drinks and snacks. Our beer garden and terrace is one of Staffordshire Moorlands largest, with the beautiful scenery of the rural area and situated by the flowing River Churnet.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in catering, cooking, and restaurant operations within a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly according to established recipes and standards
Support the kitchen team with food safety and hygiene practices to ensure compliance with health regulations
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring as required
Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
Restock supplies and organise storage areas to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Serve food efficiently and courteously to customers or staff as directed
Assist with general cleaning duties in the kitchen area at the end of each shift
Support catering events by setting up and clearing serving areas as needed

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Basic knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Pay: £12.21-£14.00 per hour
