About the Role

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A COMMUNITY BASED ROLE - IT IS NOT REMOTE WORKING

Do you believe that no older person should feel alone or without any support? We're looking for two compassionate and organised Befriending/SupportCoordinators to lead our service across the Lymington and Ringwood areas of the New Forest, connecting isolated older people with our friendly team who can make a real difference to their lives.

This is a flexible, part-time role (14 hours per week) that sits at the heart of our local community. You'll coordinate meaningful one-to-one relationships between volunteers and befriendees, helping to reduce loneliness and support people to live with greater confidence and connection.

What You'll Do

Recruit, train, and support volunteers across the area
Match volunteers with befriendees based on personality, interests, and need
Deal with a wide range of support issues/applications for example Attendance Allowance.
Build strong referral relationships with GPs, social care teams, community groups and other local partners
Provide ongoing support and check-ins to ensure every interaction is thriving
Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation reports
Raise the profile of the service within the local community

About You

Experience in a coordination, volunteering, care, or community-facing role
A genuine empathy for older people and an understanding of the challenges loneliness can bring
Confident communicator — able to build warm, trusting relationships with volunteers, older adults, and professionals alike
Well-organised and self-motivated, comfortable managing your own time across a part-time week
Knowledge of the New Forest area and its communities is a real advantage
Confident using computer systems and smart technology
Driver with own vehicle required, given the nature of the area
