Role Purpose

This is an exciting new role, and we are looking for the right person to bring our events calendar to life. The Events Fundraiser will play a key role in helping Rossendale Hospice sustain and grow its services for local people by delivering engaging, well‑planned fundraising events that inspire community support and generate vital income. The Events Fundraiser will be required to develop, manage and promote fundraising events whilst working to achieve monthly fundraising income., The fundraiser will work closely with the Fundraising Manager, the post‑holder will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering a minimum of three major fundraising events per year, alongside supporting a range of smaller community and supporter‑led events. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is creative, organised and passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Delivery

· Lead the planning, organisation and delivery of a minimum of three major fundraising events per year.

· Support and develop a programme of smaller events, campaigns and community fundraising activities.

· Prepare event plans, budgets, timelines and risk assessments.

· Ensure all events are delivered safely, professionally and in line with hospice values.

Income Generation

· Lead the delivery of a programme of fundraising events that generates a minimum of £100,000 net profit per year.

· Maximise return on investment across all events, ensuring income targets are met or exceeded.

· Monitor event income and expenditure closely, reporting performance and variances to the Fundraising Manager.

· Identify opportunities to grow income year on year through increased participation, sponsorship and community engagement.

· Ensure all fundraising activity represents value for money and supports the long‑term sustainability of hospice services.

Supporter & Volunteer Engagement

· Recruit, brief and support volunteers involved in fundraising events.

· Build strong relationships with supporters, community groups and local businesses.

· Act as a positive ambassador for Rossendale Hospice at events and in the community.

Marketing & Promotion

· Work with colleagues to promote events through digital channels, print, social media and local networks.

· Support the development of engaging event materials and communications.

· Help ensure consistent messaging about the hospice’s work and impact.

Compliance & Governance

· Ensure all fundraising events comply with relevant legislation, GDPR, fundraising regulations and hospice policies.

· Maintain accurate records and supporter data.

Person Specification

Essential

· Experience of planning and delivering events (charity, community or commercial).

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.

· A proactive, enthusiastic and solution‑focused approach.

· Commitment to the values and mission of Rossendale Hospice.

Desirable

· Experience of fundraising or working within the charity sector.

· Experience of working with volunteers.

· Strong local knowledge and community connections.

· Experience of budget management.

· Confident using IT systems and social media for event promotion.

Special features of the job. The postholder will be required to work outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends throughout the year at various events. It is a requirement of the postholder to be present occasionally alone in charge or in assistance at out of hours functions. Such attendance to be agreed with the Fundraising Manager who will allow time off in lieu to be taken as appropriate.

Pay: £30,000.00 per year
