Full job description

Primary Objective of the Position:

The Junior General Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the MD in the day-to-day leadership and management of Rapid Fit. The role is designed to ensure effective coordination between contract management, production, planning, estimating and administration teams.

This position will act as a member of the management team, driving performance, efficiency, service delivery and continuous improvement whilst developing the skills and experience required to progress into a General Manager role in the future.

Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Contracted Term: Permanent

Location: Great Bridge. You may be required to travel to other sites across the UK on an ad-hoc basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

Operational Management

· Support the MD in the overall management and performance of the business;

· Ensure effective communication and collaboration between contract management; estimating, planning, production and administration teams.

· Lead and support business improvement initiatives, process reviews and efficiency projects.

Commercial and Contract Management

· Provide management and leadership to the Contract Management team;

· Manage selected customer contracts and projects where required;

· Support contract managers in resolving project, customer and commercial issues;

· Maintain oversight of project performance, profitability and customer satisfaction;

· Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

People Leadership and Development

· Provide direct management and leadership to designated office-based teams;

· Develop a positive, high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring and effective leadership;

· Support recruitment, on boarding and development of new employees;

· Train and develop team members in technical and operational processes;

· Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans.

Performance Analysis and Reporting

· Analyse business data and key performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities for improvement;

· Utilise payroll, production and operational data to monitor productivity metrics such as labour utilisation, cost per doorset and production efficiency;

· Make recommendations based on data-driven insights to improve business performance.

Strategic Support

· Support the MD in delivering business objectives and growth plans;

· Assist with integration and harmonisation of processes across group businesses where appropriate;

Comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities

….and any other duties required to support the achievement of the Company’s objectives

Minimum Qualifications/Experience Required:

Essential

· Management experience within the doorset, construction products, manufacturing or related sector;

· Knowledge of doorsets, ironmongery or related construction products;

· Strong leadership and people management skills;

· Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams;

· Commercial awareness with experience managing projects, contracts or customer relationships;

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;

· Experience using business data to drive operational and commercial improvements;

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;

Ability to influence, coach and develop others;
