An opportunity has arisen to join our centralised Accounts Team in Dartford, Kent

The Purchase Ledger Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate purchase ledger records, processing supplier invoices, and ensuring timely payments. Working within an automotive environment, the role supports the smooth operation of vehicle sales, service, parts, and Bodyshop departments by managing supplier accounts efficiently and maintaining strong relationships with vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timescales.
Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes (GRNs), ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with suppliers and internal departments.
Prepare and process supplier payment runs in line with company policies and payment schedules.
Reconcile supplier statements, investigate outstanding invoices and balances, and ensure accounts remain accurate and up to date.
Maintain accurate purchase ledger records and ensure all supporting documentation is filed appropriately.
Set up new supplier accounts and maintain accurate supplier master data.
Respond promptly and professionally to supplier queries, building and maintaining positive working relationships.
Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
Work closely with the Parts, Service, and Vehicle Sales departments to ensure invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.
Monitor aged creditor reports, investigate outstanding items, and escalate issues to the Accounts Manager where appropriate.
Support the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting, administrative, and departmental duties as required.
Ensure compliance with company financial procedures, internal controls, and relevant accounting standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £26,000.00 per year
