We are launching an exciting new Weekend KS3 Tutoring Programme and are seeking a passionate and experienced Associate Tutor to lead the delivery of small-group tuition within community settings.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to support young people through targeted intervention, raise attainment in core curriculum subjects, and contribute to the development of our expanding educational services, including our new family subscription model supporting Elective Home Education (EHE) learners and families seeking additional educational support.
Role Purpose
The Associate Tutor will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality, differentiated learning programmes for groups of between 5 and 8 learners across two cohorts each Saturday. The successful candidate will create an inclusive learning environment that meets a range of academic abilities and individual learning needs while promoting confidence, engagement, and achievement.
Group Size Requirements
- Each tutoring session will operate with a minimum group size of 5 learners.
- Group sizes will be capped at a maximum of 8 learners per session.
- Tutors will be expected to differentiate learning effectively to meet the needs of all learners within the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality KS3 tutoring sessions aligned to the National Curriculum.
- Differentiate learning effectively to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
- Deliver engaging lessons to groups of up to eight young people.
- Monitor, assess, and record learner progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
- Foster positive relationships with young people, parents/carers, and partner organisations.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and progress records.
- Promote learner wellbeing, engagement, and positive educational outcomes.
- Support the development of personalised learning programmes for families accessing additional tutoring services.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and quality assurance of Provisions Plus+ educational provision.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Maintain a child-centred approach at all times.
- Recognise, record, and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Work in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children (WTSC), and Provisions Plus+ safeguarding policies.
- Maintain professional boundaries with children, young people, and families.
- Adhere to the organisation's Code of Conduct, safeguarding procedures, and whistleblowing policy.
- Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and respect.
Essential Criteria
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting KS3 learners.
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum.
- Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons for learners with varying needs and abilities.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Current safeguarding training (Level 2 or above) or willingness to complete safeguarding training prior to commencing the role.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and equality of opportunity.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check with Children's Barred List check.
Desirable Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, Degree-level qualification, or relevant tutoring qualification.
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, alternative provision, or those at risk of disengagement from education.
- Experience working with Elective Home Education (EHE) families.
- Experience delivering intervention programmes that improve learner attainment and confidence.
- DSL training or additional safeguarding qualifications.
