Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sourdough Baker to join our lovely Bakery team in Sawston, just south of Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have experience working within an artisan bakery and producing both sourdough and yeasted loaves. As a Baker, you will be responsible for producing a variety of baked items while ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a growing business.

New or beginner bakers are more than welcome to apply, you only need the attitude to learn, the energy to wake up for 2:30am starts and the strength to lift bread into the top deck!!

Working times - Monday-Sunday - 2:30am - 10:30am or 4:30am - 12:30pm with the ability to have some weekends/days off (Negotiated between the team).

Pay negotiable based on experience.

Duties

Working with the Bread team to produce our range of stunning Sourdough and yeasted breads for our own cafes and our Wholesale customers.
An active interest in learning other areas of the bakery and helping other teams when needed.
Assist in the development of new recipes or refining our existing recipes.
Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies and ingredients and assisting the wider team in managing stock.
Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
Help in training new staff on bread making techniques and best practices.

Skills

Proficient in baking techniques and food preparation methods.
Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
Experience working in a culinary or restaurant environment is advantageous.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
Creative mindset with a passion for culinary arts and innovation in baking.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively within the kitchen team.
