Accounts Assistant

Location: Bedford (with regular travel to St. Neots and Huntingdon)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you looking to develop your career in accountancy within a supportive and growing practice?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice. Based primarily in Bedford, the role will involve regular travel to our offices in St. Neots and Huntingdon, giving you exposure to a varied client base and a wide range of accounting work.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is studying towards, or has already achieved, their AAT qualification and is looking to build a long-term career within a professional practice environment.

Working closely with experienced accountants and advisers, you will be involved in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT returns and supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting requirements. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, is keen to learn, and can work independently whilst contributing positively to a friendly team environment.

What We're Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who:

Have a minimum of two years' experience working within a small accountancy practice. Please note that applications from candidates whose experience is solely within industry or commercial finance roles will not be considered.
Are studying towards, or have completed, an AAT qualification.
Have practical experience using QuickBooks Online, Xero and Dext, with experience of Sage being advantageous.
Possess strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Are self-motivated and able to manage their workload effectively.
Have a professional and client-focused approach.
Are keen to develop their knowledge and progress their career within an accountancy practice.
