Role Purpose
The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support across the organisation, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems and services. The role supports business operations by maintaining infrastructure, resolving technical issues, assisting with system improvements, and contributing to IT projects and compliance initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver high-quality IT support while maintaining strong security and operational standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support
- Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to users across multiple business functions.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system-related issues.
- Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Escalate complex technical issues where required.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, requests, and resolutions.
Infrastructure & Systems Support
- Assist in maintaining reliable and secure IT infrastructure across multiple systems and locations.
- Support system upgrades, installations, and migrations.
- Monitor system performance, backups, and security alerts.
- Assist with maintenance of servers, cloud services, and business applications.
- Support integration between internal systems, websites, and third-party applications.
Security & Compliance
- Follow IT security policies and best practices.
- Assist with maintaining data security and compliance standards.
- Support implementation of security improvements and updates.
- Participate in user security awareness and training initiatives.
Project Support
- Support delivery of IT projects from planning through implementation.
- Assist with deployment of new systems, software, and business applications.
- Support data migration and system integration activities.
- Assist with testing and rollout of new technologies.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Experience providing IT support in a business environment.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desirable
- Experience supporting cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Exposure to CRM systems, APIs, or systems integration.
- Experience assisting with IT infrastructure or migration projects.
- Experience with DELL Wyse ThinClient platforms and Windows RDS.
