Full job description

Overview

The Dyslexia Association of Staffordshire is seeking a proactive and well-organised Grants and Administration Coordinator to support the charity’s day-to-day administrative activity and help secure and manage grant funding. The role combines grant research and application support with administration, community liaison, service coordination, and general organisational support. The postholder will play an important part in helping the charity deliver services for children, young people, adults, families, schools, and the wider community across Staffordshire. The charity supports all ages affected by dyslexia and provides information, advice, testing, tuition, training, and projects responding to identified local needs.

Responsibilities

· Research grant, trust, foundation, and commissioning opportunities that align with the charity’s aims and services.

· Develop funding proposals, project plans, outcomes frameworks, delivery schedules, and supporting budgets in liaison with colleagues and partners.

· Coordinate grant administration activities including submissions, record-keeping, monitoring information, communication with funders, and reporting requirements.

· Attend grant and funder workshops, both online and in person, to identify opportunities and maintain awareness of funding priorities.

· Gather supporting documentation, references, and organisational information required for funding applications.

· Help maintain and promote other fundraising income streams and community fundraising initiatives as required.

· Monitor and respond to enquiries received through the charity’s main email account, ensuring timely responses or referral to the appropriate colleague.

· Handle telephone and email enquiries from parents, schools, and other stakeholders in a professional and supportive manner.

· Support the coordination of testing enquiries by collecting key information, allocating cases to appropriate assessors, and maintaining accurate tracking records.

· Prepare quotations for schools and other organisations seeking assessments or related services.

Essential

· Experience in administration, coordination, or project support.

· Strong written communication skills ideally with Grant applications, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional documents.

· Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain records, and meet deadlines.

· Confidence in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders including families, schools, community organisations, colleagues, volunteers, and funders.

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.

· Good IT skills and confidence using email, spreadsheets, and standard office systems.

· Good knowledge of SEND and an understanding of the needs of children, young people, and adults with dyslexia and other neurodivergent or additional learning needs.

· Knowledge of SEND terminology, inclusive practice, and the challenges faced by families and education settings when seeking appropriate support, advice, and assessment.

· Commitment to the values and mission of the Dyslexia Association of Staffordshire and to providing a supportive, inclusive service.

Desirable

· Experience of supporting grant or funding applications, or transferable experience in bid support, report writing, or funding administration.

· Experience gained within the charity, education, community, or public sector.

· Awareness of the wider SEND landscape, including how families, schools, and support services work together.

· An understanding of dyslexia services, assessments, or support pathways within local communities.
