The Role:
The role of the Work-based Tutor is to focus on the apprentice, their development and progress across all aspects of their apprenticeship (on and off the job training), and on liaison with employers to ensure that apprentices are well supported to ensure both the business and the apprentice benefits.

The Work-Based Tutor (Apprenticeships) is responsible for the monitoring of apprentices on a range of apprenticeships that the University offers in partnership with a diverse range of employers. This will encompass supporting apprentice achievement, progression and retention through regular progress review meetings, ensuring that engagement with learning is compliant with Education & Skills Funding Agency funding rules, and with the expectations set out in the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. Support for apprentices will include study support and preparation for the End Point Assessment (EPA) Gateway review and EPA itself.

Tutors will also contribute to the identification, production, evaluation and enhancement of learning support materials in a variety of media. They will work collaboratively with course teams as well as directly with employers to continuously improve the quality of the apprentice experience, and its value to apprentices and employers.

The working pattern for this post is full time, however we may be able to offer reduced hours for the right candidate.

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.

Salary Information:
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
