Part-Time Bookkeeper – Xero & VAT

Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire
Company: PointSCAN Limited

About PointSCAN

PointSCAN Limited is a specialist 3D laser scanning and measured surveying company based in Sandy, Bedfordshire. We provide high-accuracy surveying, point cloud, CAD and BIM services to clients across the UK, working within the construction, engineering, water, industrial and architectural sectors.

As the business continues to develop, we are looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the financial administration and day-to-day bookkeeping of the company.

The Role

We are looking for someone who is confident working independently and has strong practical experience using Xero.

The role will include maintaining accurate financial records, processing and reconciling transactions, supporting VAT submissions and ensuring that our accounting records remain accurate and up to date.

Typical responsibilities will include:

Maintaining the company's bookkeeping records within Xero
Bank reconciliation
Purchase and sales ledger management
Processing supplier invoices and expenses
Reviewing customer payments and outstanding balances
Reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies
Preparing and reviewing VAT records and VAT returns
Maintaining accurate records for the Director's Loan Account
Liaising with our accountant where required
Assisting with month-end and year-end information
General financial administration and reporting
Identifying and resolving bookkeeping discrepancies

Essential Experience

Applicants should have:

Previous bookkeeping experience
Strong working knowledge of Xero
Practical experience of UK VAT
Experience completing bank reconciliations
Good understanding of purchase and sales ledgers
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently and maintain accurate financial records

Experience working with a small or medium-sized UK business would be particularly useful.

Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position based at our offices in Sandy, Bedfordshire.

We are open to discussing the exact working pattern with the successful applicant and are more interested in finding the right person than prescribing a rigid schedule.

The position may suit an experienced bookkeeper looking for regular part-time hours within a growing specialist business.
