NHS Fife is recruiting a Career Development Officer to support the development of clear career pathways within our Estates & Facilities (E&F) Directorate. This is a fixed term post for 6 months.

This is a hands-on role within a live workforce transformation programme, focused on helping people enter, develop and progress within Estates and Facilities roles. You will work with managers and staff to map roles, identify progression routes and support a more structured and inclusive approach to workforce development.

A key part of the role is bringing a lived Armed Forces or similar operational background, helping shape pathways that are practical, realistic and accessible. The successful candidate must be a member of the Armed Forces Community (i.e. a veteran, service leaver or a member of their family including spouse, partner or dependent)

This is not a desk-only role, you’ll spend time with teams across sites, engaging directly with staff, running sessions, and turning feedback into practical improvements.

We’re looking for someone who:

has experience in a structured or operational environment
can work confidently with people at all levels
can turn ideas into clear, practical outputs
is comfortable working independently within a wider programme

This role sits at the heart of NHS Fife’s work to build a sustainable workforce and create new routes into employment, particularly for Armed Forces communities and others who may face barriers to entering or progressing in work.
