Timloc Building Products is a long‑established British manufacturer based in Howden, East Yorkshire, producing sustainable building products from ground level to roof ridge and supplying merchants with a broad range supported by next‑day service.
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Materials Controller to join our team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate control, availability, and replenishment of materials required to support our manufacturing and operational activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced stock control, inventory, or materials management professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy.
About the Role
As a Materials Controller, you will be responsible for managing inventory accuracy, stock control processes, material replenishment, and supplier coordination. You will work closely with production, purchasing, warehousing, and supply chain teams to ensure materials are available when needed and inventory records remain accurate.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Stock Control
- Conduct and manage silo counts and ensure accurate tracking of bulk materials
- Maintain control of consumables, including monitoring usage and placing orders as required
- Lead cyclical stock counts across all material categories (e.g. profile, knauf, rPET, sheet)
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, making system adjustments where appropriate.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy within ERP/MRP systems.
Materials Planning & Ordering
- Raise and manage purchase orders for consumables and operational materials.
- Accurately receive and process purchase orders within company systems upon delivery.
- Monitor and chase overdue purchase orders, working closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
Production & Operations Support
- Expedite works orders to support production schedules and minimise downtime.
- Support manufacturing operations through the completion and monitoring of manufacturing checklists.
- Ensure critical production materials are available to meet operational requirements.
Goods In & Quality Checks
- Check incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Verify the quantity and quality of received materials.
- Report damaged or incorrect goods and coordinate resolutions with suppliers.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in inventory control, stock management, materials planning, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- The ability to investigate problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Confidence working with stock counts, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
- A proactive and hands-on approach to supporting operational activities.
Desirable
- FLT (Fork Lift Truck) certification is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
