We are seeking 2 skilled CNC Operators.
CNC Operator (Mazak)
Mazak Turning Operator to set up, operate, and monitor Mazak CNC lathes to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Set up and operate CNC Mazak turning machines (Mazatrol and/or ISO programming).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Load programs and make offsets or minor program adjustments as required.
- Monitor machine performance and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and identify corrective actions.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
- Apprenticeship, vocational training, or certification in machining/manufacturing.
- Experience with multi-axis turning centers, live tooling, or Y-axis machines.
- Ability to edit CNC programs and perform machine setups independently.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Minimum Experience/Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC Mazak turning centers.
- Knowledge of Mazatrol programming and CNC machining principles.
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Proficiency with measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer
This role is responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components to specification, safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard. The ideal candidate will be confident reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, setting offsets, proving out programs, and carrying out in-process inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate CNC lathes, mills, or machining centres to manufacture components in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, tolerances, and job instructions before starting work.
- Create or edit CNC programs at the machine
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment appropriate for each job.
- Set machine datums, tool offsets, and zero points to ensure accurate machining.
- Perform first-off inspections and in-process checks using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, verniers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to speeds, feeds, offsets, and tooling as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Produce components to tight tolerances and complete all required quality documentation.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to keep equipment in safe working condition.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work area in line with health and safety procedures.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Support continuous improvement activities to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase productivity.
- Train or support junior operators/apprentices where required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Operator, Setter, Programmer, or Machinist.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with CNC milling, turning, or multi-axis machining.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Mazatrol, Haas, Siemens, or similar controls.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, offsets, and tolerances.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues effectively.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with CAD/CAM software is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or machining qualification preferred.
- Previous CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience programming CNC machines and setting up from drawings strongly preferred.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing or workshop environment.
- May involve shift work, overtime, and standing for extended periods.
- Manual handling and use of lifting equipment may be required.
- Must follow all company health and safety procedures at all times.
