Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with autism and disabilities. This paid position offers an enriching environment where you can make a meaningful difference in young learners' lives, fostering their development and confidence within a nurturing setting. Experience working with children, particularly in special education or toddler care, is highly valued. Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach are essential for success in this role.

Duties

Provide personalised support to children with special educational needs, including autism and disabilities
Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning programmes and activities
Support children during classroom activities, playtime, and mealtimes to promote inclusion and engagement
Help create a safe, welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and independence
Support children with behavioural challenges by applying positive behaviour management techniques
Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to monitor progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
Assist in the supervision of toddlers during organised activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
Foster effective communication with children to promote understanding and confidence in their abilities

Experience

Prior experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Experience in teaching or supporting children within educational or childcare settings is advantageous
Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for working with children with diverse needs is beneficial
Experience caring for toddlers or young children helps in understanding developmental stages and behavioural cues
Strong communication skills are crucial for effectively supporting children's learning and liaising with colleagues and parents

Please note this is a term time position and you will be required to work school term dates plus five additional inset days across the year.
