Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all kitchen areas are hygienic and well-stocked, enabling chefs to deliver excellent food service. Previous experience in food preparation or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the hospitality industry.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients.
Support chefs with cooking and plating dishes as required.
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment to meet health and safety standards.
Wash, dry, and store crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and other kitchenware efficiently.
Restock supplies and ensure ingredients are stored correctly to prevent spoilage.
Assist with waste disposal and ensure the kitchen remains tidy throughout service periods.
Support the overall organisation of the kitchen to facilitate smooth operational flow during busy periods.

Qualifications

Experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or hotel environment is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques is beneficial.
Previous experience in hospitality or serving roles is advantageous.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Good organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the kitchen environment.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential for success in this role. This position offers valuable experience within the hospitality sector, ideal for those looking to build a career in culinary arts or hotel services.
