Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Yard Manager to oversee daily operations at our family run scrap yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing yard activities, supervising staff, and ensuring efficient transportation and inventory processes. This role requires a strong understanding of the scrap metal industry, maximising profits and customer service skills.

Duties

Oversee all yard activities, including arranging transport for collections and metal processing.
Supervise yard staff, providing leadership
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies across all yard activities.
Oversee forklift operations, ensuring proper training and adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

Proven supervising experience within a scrap yard.
Extensive knowledge of the scrap metal industry including processing
Valid forklift licence with demonstrated forklift operating experience.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute significantly to our operational success.

Pay: £14.50 per hour
