Job Title: Cleaner
Payment: Living Wage (as set by Living Wage Foundation) – £13.45 per hour (as of 2026)
Hours of Work: Part-Time, 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 10:00 am). Occasional flexibility may be required to cover events, sickness, or deep cleaning schedules.
Annual Leave: 20 days plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff), increasing by 1 day per year, up to 25 days after 5 years.

Purpose of the Job
To ensure that Sheffield Technology Parks’ buildings are cleaned to the highest standard, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment for tenants, visitors, and staff. Cleaners are also responsible for reporting maintenance issues and stock shortages to the Head of Operations and contributing ideas for improvements where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clean and replenish all kitchens, sinks, and toilet facilities daily, ensuring hygiene standards are maintained, and consumables (e.g., soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls) are fully stocked.
2. Hoover carpeted areas and clean hard floors across communal corridors, reception spaces, and offices.
3. Empty waste bins and cigarette boxes daily, ensuring refuse is removed to designated bin stores.
4. Sweep and maintain external areas, including entrances, ensuring they remain tidy and free from litter.
5. Clean internal windows, doors, and skirting boards, using appropriate safety equipment for working at height where necessary.
6. Perform occasional deep cleaning tasks as directed by the Head of Operations (e.g., carpet cleaning, kitchen appliances).
7. Identify and report hazards, maintenance issues, or areas requiring repair to the Cleaning Supervisor.
8. Assist with stock control, reporting when cleaning materials and consumables need replenishing.
9. Follow all Health and Safety regulations, including correct handling of cleaning chemicals (in line with CoSHH) and machinery, and ensure wet floors are clearly signposted.
10. Represent Sheffield Technology Parks professionally, interacting positively with tenants and staff.
11. Attend training sessions as required, including Health & Safety, working at height, and equipment use.
12. Undertake any additional cleaning duties or tasks as directed to meet the business’s needs.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
1. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
2. Good understanding of safe working practices, including the handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
3. Basic level of literacy and numeracy to complete records and understand procedures.
4. Ability to undertake physically demanding duties, including bending, lifting, working at height, and being on your feet for extended periods.
5. Experience of cleaning commercial premises under time constraints, such as offices or shared workspaces.
6. Experience using cleaning machinery (e.g., hoovers, buffers) and cleaning products safely and effectively.
7. Strong attention to detail, ensuring high cleaning standards are consistently met.
8. Reliable, punctual, and able to demonstrate a good attendance record.
9. Friendly, professional, and approachable when interacting with tenants, visitors, and colleagues.
10. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Requirements
1. A current CoSHH qualification (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
2. A current First Aid certification.
3. Previous training or experience in Health and Safety procedures.

1. Full training will be provided, including Health & Safety procedures, CoSHH, and working at height.
2. Opportunities for further development, including First Aid training, will be supported.
Additional Information
· Uniform and PPE: Sheffield Technology Parks will provide a uniform and all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which must be worn during working hours.
