Full job description

You’ll support the Financial Controller and Finance Director in delivering accurate and timely financial information, contributing to monthly management accounts and helping the business make informed decisions.

This is a hands-on role with real variety, and an opportunity to help shape how the role evolves over time.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
Post journals including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
Perform balance sheet and supplier reconciliations
Support variance analysis and provide commentary
Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Product costing reviews and analysis
Support audit requirements and ensure compliance
Contribute to improving financial processes, controls and reporting

About You

We’re open to a range of backgrounds and career stages. You might be:

Looking to step back from a full-time role while still using your experience
Returning to work and seeking flexibility
Early in your finance career with some relevant experience and keen to develop

What’s important is that you bring:

Experience in a finance or accounts role
Qualified by experience or studies completed to Level 3, or equivalent in, AAT, ACCA / CIMA / ACA
Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g. Sage)
A solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Experience in standard costing, overhead recovery and variance analysis in a manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential)
Attention to detail and a reliable, organised approach
A positive attitude, willingness to learn and desire to improve processes

Part-time hours (20–24 per week, spread evenly over 4 days)

Salary

circa £36,000 FTE (pro rata)
Aligned with the Sheffield market, depending on experience and level of qualification.
