Join the Mission
At ByDesign Secure, we believe that world‑class security shouldn't be an afterthought— it should be the foundation. We are an independent, outputs‑based consultancy dedicated to solving the most complex data assurance challenges in the UK public sector. Currently, we are working on a landmark transformation of a cross‑government secure IT system. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and consumption of a private cloud environment from the ground up and help modernise the end‑user services that support national decision‑making. We don’t believe in “billing by the hour” or rigid hierarchies; we are a lean, expert team focused on delivering high‑impact outcomes. If you are a self‑starter who thrives on autonomy and wants to see your analysis, insights, and business decisions shape the future of sovereign security, we want to talk to you
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Technical Business Analyst to join a Technical Team operating within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, supporting a major migration programme from on-premises infrastructure to Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) within a secure and highly regulated environment.
You’ll work at the intersection of business, operations, security, and engineering, helping define and translate platform, infrastructure, networking, identity, security, and operational requirements into clear, actionable delivery artefacts.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with Solution Architects, Security Architects, Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers, Cloud Security Engineers, Cloud DevOps Engineers, and Cloud Data Engineers to deliver modern cloud platform capabilities – automation is at the heart of everything we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working as an embedded Business Analyst within a Scrum Team operating as part of a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART).
- Collaborating closely with Product Owners, architects, and engineering teams to refine platform and operational requirements.
- Supporting the migration of enterprise services and operational capabilities from on-premises environments into GDC.
- Eliciting, analysing, and documenting business, operational, security, infrastructure, networking, and cloud platform requirements.
- Translating complex technical requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, process maps, and backlog items.
- Supporting backlog refinement activities to ensure stories are implementation-ready.
- Contributing to PI Planning by helping define business context, dependencies, operational impacts, and platform outcomes.
- Supporting engineers and testers during delivery by clarifying requirements, operational processes, and expected outcomes.
- Producing and maintaining delivery artefacts including process maps, user journeys, operating models, system context diagrams, data flow diagrams, and service transition documentation.
- Helping define and document operational readiness requirements including monitoring, alerting, support models, disaster recovery, onboarding, and service management processes.
- Defining the onboarding process for application teams migrating services into GDC.
- Working closely with Solution Architects, Security Architects, Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers, Cloud Security Engineers, Cloud DevOps Engineers, and Cloud Data Engineers to ensure business and operational requirements are correctly represented in the platform design.
- Supporting operational readiness reviews prior to onboarding new workloads into the platform.
- Documenting support responsibilities and shared responsibility models between infrastructure, security, and application teams

- Ability to work confidently with technical engineering and architecture teams while remaining focused on business outcomes and operational value.
- Experience writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, process maps, and operational process documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and communication skills.
- Confidence engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence.

- Experience supporting cloud migration or hybrid cloud transformation programmes.
- Familiarity with GCP, Kubernetes, Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), or enterprise platform environments.
- Experience working within government, defence, or highly regulated sectors.
