Health and Safety Assistant

As our Health & Safety Assistant, you’ll be the right hand to our Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, helping to ensure our sites, processes, and people meet the highest safety standards. You’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground—spotting risks before they become incidents, supporting training programmes, and helping to embed a safety-first mindset across the organisation. Your work will directly protect colleagues, visitors, and the wider community.

What we offer for the position of Health & Safety Assistant:

£14.00 - £16.00ph Depending on skill level and experience.
Monthly Productivity Bonus
25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays.
Hourly Paid Day Shift: Monday to Thursday 0745 – 1630, Friday 0745 - 1145
Overtime availability.
37 Hours Per Week Permanent contract of employment.
Training will be provided.
On-site Parking.

Role of Health & Safety Assistant includes:

Working for the HS&E Manager and supporting the site based IOSH Reps and the department supervisors.
Based at the Loughborough site but regularly working at the Coalville LE67 1TT and Syston LE7 1HN sites.
Assist in carrying out workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring findings are recorded and acted upon.
Support the delivery of health and safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and induction programmes.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and safety observations, and help track corrective actions.
Help review and update safety policies, procedures, and signage to ensure compliance with UK legislation.
Liaise with teams across the business to promote safe working practices and encourage a culture of reporting and improvement.

Requirements for the position of Health & Safety Assistant:

A genuine passion for keeping people safe and a practical and proactive approach to solving health and safety issues.
Knowledge of UK health and safety regulations preferably IOSH or NEBOSH.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail when recording and following up on safety actions.
Excellent communication skills—you can explain safety requirements clearly and positively.
Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to produce and update H&S documents.
Experience working within a manufacturing company
Full driving licence and your own car (Mileage paid at 45p per mile)
