Full job description

Role Purpose

The Warehouse Operative (Pick & Pack) supports the efficient, accurate, and safe movement of goods through the warehouse. The role focuses on order picking, packing, stock handling, and maintaining high operational standards to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth workflow.

Key ResponsibilitiesPicking & Packing

Pick customer orders accurately using handheld scanners, pick sheets, or WMS systems.
Pack items securely following company packing standards and courier requirements.
Apply correct labels, documentation, and dispatch notes.
Maintain high accuracy to minimise errors, damages, and returns.

Goods In & Stock Handling

Assist with unloading deliveries and checking quantities against delivery notes.
Replenish pick locations and rotate stock using FIFO/FEFO principles.
Conduct regular stock counts and report discrepancies promptly.
Move stock safely using pallet trucks, trolleys, or other manual handling equipment.

Warehouse Operations

Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard‑free working environment.
Follow site procedures for waste disposal, recycling, and packaging control.
Support wider warehouse tasks such as sorting, palletising, and loading vehicles.
Use basic IT systems for stock updates, order processing, and inventory checks.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Follow all Health & Safety procedures, including safe lifting and PPE requirements.
Report hazards, near misses, and equipment faults immediately.
Comply with company policies, quality standards, and operational procedures.
Operate manual handling equipment safely and responsibly.

Skills & Competencies

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
Basic IT literacy (scanners, tablets, WMS).
Reliable, punctual, and proactive team player.

Experience & Requirements

Previous warehouse or pick & pack experience beneficial but not essential.
Comfortable with manual handling and being on your feet for extended periods.
Ability to work shifts, weekends, or overtime when required.
Right to work in the UK.

Performance Indicators

Order accuracy and pick rate.
Packing quality and damage reduction.
Adherence to Health & Safety procedures.
Attendance, punctuality, and teamwork.
Contribution to warehouse organisation and workflow.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
