Apprentice Nursery Practitioner – NVQ Level 2

32.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | Term Time Only
Permanent Contract

Essential Requirements (Please Read First)

Passionate about working with children and supporting their development
Committed, reliable, and flexible
Willing to enrol with ACT to complete NVQ Level 3 in Childcare & Development
Able to travel between sites if required
Enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated team player

Ever wanted to work with children but didn’t want to attend college full-time? This is the opportunity for you.

We are looking for an unqualified Trainee Nursery Practitioner to join the Little Angels team at our settings across Cardiff. You will study for your NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare & Development while working and earning.

As a Flying Start setting, we provide up-to-date, high-quality training and first-hand experience in child development, alongside an extensive professional development programme.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will:

Be imaginative, creative, and confident, getting involved in messy play, dress-up, and outdoor activities
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive team environment
Be ready to learn, grow, and develop professionally
Be prepared to have fun while supporting children’s learning and development

Key Responsibilities

Act as a positive role model, supporting children through praise and guided learning
Deliver planned learning activities, adapting for individual needs
Observe and record children’s development using company documentation
Complete daily activity and routine records, communicating progress to parents/carers
Build strong, professional relationships with parents/carers
Monitor children’s health and wellbeing
Support settling-in sessions and act as a key worker where appropriate
Help create a stimulating, safe, and engaging learning environment
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Report maintenance or equipment issues to the Deputy Setting Leader
Ensure daily communication and information is shared with parents/carers
