Construction Tutor
You will deliver and develop engaging practical sessions in brickwork, carpentry, and joinery, with the potential to incorporate plumbing skills if applicable. As part of a collaborative curriculum team, your work will directly support young people’s progress into apprenticeships, employment, or further study.
Childcare Tutor and Vocational Studies Tutor
To design and deliver programmes for young people, including those with additional needs.
Design schemes of learning that meet the curriculum intent and offer learners work related learning, build skills in independent living in a vocational learning environment.
Provide explicit instruction and provide the use of technology throughout the programme with scaffolding and 1-1 interventions where necessary.
Contribute to the needs assessment for each learner before they engage with the programme.
We are looking for additional experienced functional vocational tutors to join our team to support the delivery of our Pathway programme for our 16-19 cohorts.
You will be part of a unique strategy to empower our young learners to gain the vocational skills required for work and life.
We deliver these vocational subjects at Level 1 and Level 2 are we are seeking experienced tutors who can add real value and working knowledge of these vocational environments.
You may be an established tutor or looking for your first post in post 16 education, as a provider we are consistently achieving pass rates above the national average, we are now seeking to expand our provision and continue to build on our successful Pathways Programme.
As a vocational tutor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, nurturing, and supportive instruction to study programme in cohorts of up to 15 learners, helping them to develop their skills and achieve their Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
The tutor is also responsible for creating resources, maintaining attendance records, tracking leaner progress and reporting this to the Vice Principal Curriculum & Quality, and for taking an active role in monitoring and evaluating the quality of the delivery.
Occasional meetings with the Vice Principal Curriculum & Quality, and regular communication should be expected.
This successful candidate(s) will be employed on a contractual basis on a 1.0 FTE contract with the expectation of classroom teaching at both our Southchurch and Leigh on Sea campuses as required.
Our 36 -week courses are delivered regularly throughout the year, and tutors are contracted on a course-by-course basis based on demand.
There will be a requirement to attend team meetings, open evenings and take part in enrolment activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments for Functional Skills courses.
Deliver 3-hour Entry, Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills courses that are dynamic, interactive and engaging, that cater to a diverse group of 16-19 and adult learners, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Deliver in a variety of locations including the College Campuses.
Work with individuals and groups to agree and keep up to date Individual Learning Plans as appropriate to their needs, supporting them to achieve these goals through regular reviews.
Utilise a range of teaching techniques and tools to accommodate different learning styles and abilities in a classroom setting.
Provide clear explanations of concepts, ensuring students grasp fundamental principles and can apply them practically.
Offer personalised support and guidance to learners who require additional assistance, using communication methods to facilitate their learning journey effectively.
Evaluate student performance through online assignments and quizzes and provide timely and detailed feedback.
Monitor attendance, punctuality and progress of learners
Maintain accurate records of student participation, progress, and performance, and submit necessary reports to line managers.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and enhance the overall quality, achievement and success of the courses.
Keep up to date with developments in the field of Functional Skills and education, integrating relevant updates into the course content.
Attend periodic standardisation, review, and curriculum development meetings with the Functional Skills team.
Ensure adherence to established teaching policies, procedures, and quality standards.
To work in accordance with SCC equality and diversity and safeguarding policies.
In addition to the above areas of responsibility the post-holder maybe required to undertake any other reasonable duties relating to the broad scope of the position, commensurate with the post, and in support of the college.
Functional Skills sits within the Study Programme Team which currently has 11 Full Time staff, and a dedicated to Functional Skills provision. Currently, there are 8 tutors who deliver Functional Skills Maths and English courses.
