Customer Service Coordinator (Technical)
£27,000–£29,000 per year | Full-time | In person
Are you an engineer who enjoys talking to people?
Do you have a strong mechanical engineering background, a genuine passion for cars, and the ability to explain technical information clearly?
Hi Spec Motorsport Ltd is looking for a Customer Service Coordinator (Technical) to join our team and become a key point of contact for our retail and trade customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to combine their engineering knowledge, automotive enthusiasm and people skills in a varied role — with full product training and the opportunity to develop into a technical product specialist.
About Hi Spec Motorsport
We are a long-established British engineering company and one of the UK's leading manufacturers of bespoke brake kits and braking components for road, classic, race and kit cars.
As a family-run business, we take pride in doing things properly. We combine traditional engineering values and attention to detail with a modern, specialist approach to automotive braking.
You'll be joining a friendly, close-knit team where your knowledge and ideas can make a genuine difference.
The Role
You'll be the first point of contact for our customers, helping them find the right products, answering technical questions and making sure their experience with us is exceptional from initial enquiry through to delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing customers with product information and technical advice
- Handling retail and trade enquiries by phone and email
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending appropriate solutions
- Escalating more complex technical queries to our Technical and Design teams when required
- Processing orders and maintaining accurate customer records
- Monitoring orders and keeping customers informed about delivery timescales
- Responding to website enquiries and helping maintain accurate, useful online product information
- Working with our website content management system and assisting with website updates
- Liaising with Technical, Design, Administration and Finance teams to ensure a seamless customer journey
- Building strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Gathering customer feedback and helping identify ways we can improve our products and service
This is not a cold-calling or hard-sales role.
Our customers are already looking for specialist automotive products. Your role is to understand what they need, use your technical knowledge to help them, and make sure they receive the right information and support.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines technical curiosity with excellent people skills.
You'll ideally have:
- A strong mechanical engineering background — an engineering degree would be desirable
- A genuine interest in cars, motorsport and automotive engineering
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- The confidence to discuss technical subjects with customers and colleagues
- Strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
- Experience with, or an interest in learning, website content management systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist technical knowledge
Previous customer service experience is desirable, but technical understanding, enthusiasm and the right attitude are just as important to us.
What You'll Get
This is an opportunity to build a career in a genuinely specialist area of the automotive industry.
You'll receive:
- Comprehensive product and technical training
- Ongoing opportunities to develop your engineering and product knowledge
- The chance to become a technical product specialist
- A varied role combining engineering, automotive products, customer interaction and problem-solving
- The opportunity to work with a respected British manufacturer and specialist automotive brand
- A friendly, supportive and close-knit working environment
- Free on-site parking
The Ideal Candidate
Perhaps you're an engineer looking to move into a more customer-focused role.
Perhaps you're already working in automotive customer service and want to develop your technical expertise.
Or perhaps you're an enthusiastic automotive engineer who wants a role where you can combine your knowledge of engineering with your passion for cars and helping people.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
