Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cleaning duties, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is maintained to the highest standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry and develop culinary skills in a professional setting.

Duties

Washing, peeling, and preparing ingredients for cooking or serving
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision
Cleaning kitchen surfaces, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment to ensure hygiene standards are met
Organising storage areas and ensuring all items are stored correctly
Supporting the cleaning of dining and kitchen areas at the end of service
Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
Restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Supporting chefs with various tasks as required during busy service periods

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety standards
Experience working in restaurants, hotels, or catering establishments is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kitchen setting
