About the role
This is more than just a job. It is an opportunity to build a career outdoors, working hands on and close to the elements, helping to keep one of the UK’s busiest motorway networks safe, operational and moving every day.
As a Maintenance Operative, no two days are the same. You will be out on the network carrying out a wide range of essential activities, from repairs and inspections to maintaining the landscape that surrounds the motorway. It is a role that blends practical skills, teamwork and a real sense of purpose, where you can see the impact of your work every day.
With over 13 years remaining on this long term project, this role offers something rare. The chance to grow, develop and build a stable career within a supportive and well established environment. Whether you are starting out, looking for a career change or bringing existing experience, there are opportunities here to learn new skills, progress and take on greater responsibility over time.
If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in practical work and want to be part of a team that keeps the UK moving, this role offers a rewarding and secure future with real opportunities for progression.
Working arrangements:
- A mix of day and night shifts, Monday to Friday, giving variety in your week
- Day shifts run from 07:00 to 16:00, with night shifts from 20:30 to 05:30
- The chance to work across the M25 network and different depots
- Opportunities to travel for training, meetings and works
- The option to support out of hours responses, including winter maintenance
This structured shift pattern makes it easier to plan ahead and enjoy a good work life balance.
