We are seeking to appoint 3 experienced motivated and enthusiastic individuals with excellent customer care and primary care administration experiences to join our Patient Services Unit team within the practice. PSU Administrator reports directly to the PSU Manager. Farnham Road Medical Group is an outstanding large training GP practice, progressive, with four sites based in Slough looking after nearly 38,730 patients. The practice is committed to innovation in providing high quality health care for our patients and a protected working and learning environment for our staff. Our Primary Health Care Team continues to grow with GPs working alongside Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Physician Associates, Clinical Pharmacists, Paramedics, MSK Practitioners, Care Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers. This strong clinical team combined with our dedicated Patient Services Team provide an evolving healthcare and medical service to meet the varying needs of our patients and, in turn, provide what we believe is a sustainable model of modern General Practice. About the role
To be an integrated members of the PSU Team of 23 staff within the Practice, supporting the qualified professionals who work in partnership to ensure our patients enjoy a positive experience in their contact with the Practice. To be first point of contact with our patients and the Practice ensuring our patients access appropriate care and services in a timely, compassionate, and respectful way. To provide clerical support for the efficient running of the Practice. You would be based at Farnham Road Practice but would be expected to travel to our other locations within Slough, to provide an efficient administration service to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the PSU department within the practice.

Key Responsibilities:
- Receive patients and make appropriate arrangements for their medical care and make new and follow up appointments for them.
- To operate the telephone system, other communication equipment and computer system as required.
- Deal with patients’ requests and queries and act appropriately, i.e., including home visits, registration procedures and written repeat medication requests.
- Issue appropriate specimen containers and instructions to patients, giving a thorough explanation of its use.
- Supervise the waiting area to ensure patients are properly and fairly dealt with.
- To able to open/lock up practice premises and maintain security in accordance with practice protocols.
- Extract required records from the filing room for dealing with medical and administrative purposes.
- Collate and maintain files, medical records, and associated surgery records (including pathology and radiology results) as necessary.
- Ensure the Reception area, and Consulting rooms are tidy and replenished at the end of surgery.
Your Skills/knowledge
- Previous experience working in a primary care setting with at least one year experience in Practice administration duties.
- Working knowledge and at least one year experience within the Customer service sector or reception environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer care, and communication skills, and ability to handle customer complaints in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and performed effectively under pressure.
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Be highly motivated with excellent timekeeping.
- Good IT knowledge and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Package.
- Can build a rapport with our patients from different ethnic backgrounds and show empathy when dealing with them face-to-face and on the phone.
Essential for the Role
- Enhanced DBS check in required.
Contract: Full-time working 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, on a rota basis.
Salary: From £13.50 per hour, dependent on experience
