Full job description

Vector Care is a care provider with forward thinking and aiming to provide innovative services for those with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Dementia, Eating Disorder and Sensory Impairment. We provide respite care services to our clients.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To provide a person-centred care to adults with a learning disability that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices. Each of our service user have an individual tailored support plan that clearly identifies and outlines the regular tasks and procedures and your responsibilities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES

Provide emotional and physical support to people enabling them to live life to the fullest.
Support the development of person-centred planning, ensuring each individual’s plan has meaningful and achievable goals.
Understand service user’s individual needs and support to ensure high standard of care to each service users.
Understanding service user’s communication needs and adapting your communication to each individual, e.g. sounds, tones, body language.
Support people with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices enabling them to take control of their own lives by increasing independence.
Support service users to access community and leisure activity to enable them to live their life as independent as possible.
Support service user for their personal care needs to maintain their good health and hygiene.
Administering, documenting and supporting with medication, as outlined in the support plan.
Carrying out moving and handling as required using relevant equipment.
To respect and maintain their dignity whilst carrying out your duties.
Assess risk factors and carry out risk assessment to ensure and maintain safe workplace.
Work in partnership with other professionals to maximise quality of life for service users.
Promote service users’ health and wellbeing in line with their personal preferences.
Accurately write and record all activity in relation to service users.
Provide and receive instructions clearly and accurately, including written, verbal and over the phone to provide consistency in service users care needs.
Regularly communicate with line manager if there are any changes to service user’s health or wellbeing.
Develop positive relationships with family and carers.
Work in line with the company’s Safeguarding and Prevention of Abuse Policy and Whistle Blowing Policy to ensure that people are kept safe at all times.
Ensure the security of the building and the safety of all the clients at all times.
Always adhere equal opportunities policy and procedure while supporting service users.
To be flexible and responsive at all times to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users.
Preparing reviews, support plans and attending client reviews.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Be willing to attend any training required to be competent to fulfil your job role.
Good communication skills
Excellent report writing
Good time keeping
Experience in care
NVQ Level-2 or willing to work towards it
