Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Person and Maintenance professional specialising in Listed Buildings. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the ongoing preservation of historic structures, with a focus on adhering to conservation standards. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to supervise and lead maintenance teams.

· The ideal working hours are between 11:00 and 20:00 (with one-hour unpaid lunch)

· Free lunch from the school

· Enhanced DBS Check Required – or a clean criminal record with no restrictions to work around children / students.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Listed Buildings to ensure structural integrity and safety.
Carry out repairs and refurbishment of any non listed buildings as required
Interpret schematics and technical drawings related to building systems and components.
Lead maintenance teams or contractors during repair projects, ensuring work complies with heritage preservation standards.
Oversee the utilisation of specialised tools and equipment for restoration tasks.
Document all maintenance activities accurately and report on the condition of structures regularly.
Liaise with conservation officers, clients, and stakeholders to coordinate maintenance schedules and project requirements.
Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff or apprentices, fostering a culture of safety and excellence in craftsmanship.

Skills

Proven experience working with Listed Buildings or heritage sites, with knowledge of conservation practices.
Skilled in welding techniques suitable for historic structures.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience, capable of managing teams or contractors efficiently.
Strong customer service skills when liaising with clients or stakeholders regarding maintenance projects.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for clear communication across teams and documentation purposes. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional passionate about preserving historic architecture while applying modern maintenance techniques. The successful applicant will be committed to delivering high standards of workmanship within heritage environments, ensuring their longevity for future generations.

Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour
