Project Manager

Supported Lettings, Southampton

37 hours per week, permanent

Salary scale 28-32 (£31,443 - £35,877)

About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. We believe that every person is of worth and we are prepared to take risks to house and support the most at risk and socially excluded members of society.

The Impact You'll Make

We have a vacancy for the post of Project Manager for The Supported Lettings team based in Southampton. This post is a permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, funded confirmed under the Homelessness Rough Sleepers Initiative.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day-to-day management of the service, including line managing staff and facilitating health and safety management responsibilities. You will supervise, lead and develop staff who carry caseloads of vulnerable and complex service users whilst ensuring effective partnership working. You will ensure the smooth running of the service and be responsible for service targets; including financial and quality of service delivery.

The Supported Letting Service support 30 clients who have a history of rough sleeping or are considered hard to house and supports them into accommodation they may not otherwise be able to access. The service offers:

a high level of intensive support to establish and maintain accommodation
Supported move on to less intensive support whilst retaining existing accommodation
Enablement for the individual to make changes through a personalised approach and prevents a return to rough sleeping

Who We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have management or supervisory experience working with people with a similar range of needs. You will have good organisational and leadership skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviour. You will have good people management and IT skills and knowledge of homelessness and related areas.

Essentially a motivated, compassionate individual who will be able to demonstrate:

Experience/Knowledge of working with people with histories of homelessness, mental health problems and substance misuse.
Experience of dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour.
Understanding of the effects of alcohol and substance use on mental health.
Understanding of equality and diversity, with respect to staff and service users.
Knowledge of safeguarding and protection procedures and protocols for vulnerable adults.
You will support Head of Homelessness in the on-going development of the service as Trauma Informed and a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE).
Essential: You will need to be a car driver.
