Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in delivering high-quality food service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all kitchen areas are hygienic and well-stocked, contributing to the smooth operation of our establishment. Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical culinary and hospitality experience within a professional environment.

Duties

Washing, peeling, and preparing ingredients for cooking or service
Cleaning dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to the highest standards
Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety regulations
Assisting with food preparation tasks under supervision
Restocking supplies and ensuring the correct storage of ingredients and equipment
Supporting the kitchen team during busy periods by efficiently managing cleaning duties
Adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with environmental policies

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not mandatory
Familiarity with basic food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices is advantageous
Experience in serving or hospitality roles can be beneficial for understanding customer service standards
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills within a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
