We’re on the lookout for dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking Support Workers to join our Respite Service – part of our Directly Delivered Services (DDS). This is your chance to be part of a team that’s reshaping adult social care in Southampton, with a focus on person-centred, strengths-based support for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism, neurodiversity, and complex needs.

This is a CQC-registered service, committed to delivering high-quality care and support.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your role will be based at Kentish Road Respite Service, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and neurodiversity. The Respite service is a care home designed to offer respite care for adults with learning disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary support and care in a safe and comfortable environment. You may also be asked to support across other service areas when needed – so flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork are essential.

You’ll be part of a team that’s always evolving to meet the needs of the people we support. That means working together to provide the best possible service – one that’s responsive, inclusive, and focused on helping people live as independently and meaningfully as they can.

Here’s what your day-to-day might include:

Supporting individuals in everyday activities, helping them build confidence and skills.
Assisting with personal care, medication, and emotional wellbeing.
Helping people engage in their community and enjoy fulfilling experiences.
Contributing to care plans and making sure support is tailored to each person.
Keeping clear records and communicating effectively with families and colleagues.
Being part of a team that’s open to change, growth, and new ideas.

What We’re Looking For

People with experience or lived experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs.
A Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards it).
Great communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to equality and inclusion.
Willingness to work flexible hours – including evenings, weekends, split shifts and lone working when needed.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £26,402 - £28,207. The starting salary is £26,402 with annual progression through the salary bands.
