Job Overview

As a growing school, we are looking to expand our staff team, adding capacity to our educational team by appointing teaching assistants who are looking to develop themselves in an SEND environment. As a growing school, we pride ourselves on our staff development, with previous teaching assistants moving into roles such as teacher, intervention leader and outreach worker. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring students to achieve their full potential. This role requires creativity, patience, and excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt teaching methods and pastoral approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.

Those with a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) are welcome to apply, however is not essential for the role as all staff benefit from in-house training and support. All staff benefit from coaching and a present and supportive Senior Leadership team. The school benefits from working with both educational and clinical psychologists, and are committed to the development of our staff.

Experience

Previous experience in an education setting is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching/pastoral strategies.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficient in using technology for educational purposes, including digital learning tools.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute positively to the school community.
Safeguarding is a priority and is everyone's responsibility. You will be expected to understand how to raise and report concerns. Training will be given to ensure that you are able to follow the correct procedures and how to identify potential child protection concerns
All pupils benefit from the directives of their EHCP. Most have social emotional and mental health needs. Experience of working with this profile would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Create a positive and inclusive learning environment- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and behaviour- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement and pastoral data- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills
Track student progress towards IEP targets, set and monitor targets, and take appropriate action based on student outcomes.
Identify extra-curricular opportunities and activities relevant to nurture students, such as social skills groups and emotional regulation workshops.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience and ability to work with diverse groups of students
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
Proficient in using technology for instructional purposes
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
