Here at Holmwood Residential Home, we are looking for a full time (or part-time equivalents), qualified, or those with equivalent experience, Activities Coordinator to work a range of shifts, including some weekends, to join our enthusiastic and outstanding team.

Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have experience working with people, including those requiring specialised care such as dementia or Alzheimer's.
This role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of recreational programmes aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life, social interaction, and overall wellbeing. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with carers, catering colleagues, managers and relatives, to ensure activities are tailored to individual needs and preferences, fostering a warm and inclusive environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, including those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Organise daily, weekly, and special event activities that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, physical activity, and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist residents in participating in activities, providing encouragement and support as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess residents’ individual needs and preferences, ensuring activities are person-centred.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate programme effectiveness.
- Source and organise materials and resources required for various activities.
- Offer an inclusive environment that encourages resident engagement and social interaction.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and colleagues to promote activity participation and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Skills
- Previous activities experience working in activities, residential care or community based role, with knowledge of care principles is desirable..
- Creative, outgoing and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging programmes suited to diverse needs..
- Basic IT skills.
- Compassionate approach with patience, empathy, and understanding towards older adults requiring specialised care.
- Ability to motivate residents to participate in activities while respecting their individual preferences and limitations.
- Creativity in designing stimulating activities that promote mental and physical wellbeing.
- Team player capable of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams dedicated to resident care.
