SEN Behaviour Support Assistant (PRU)

£110 per day | Free CPD-accredited training provided | ASAP start

Do you have a calm, confident presence and the patience to support pupils with autism and communication needs?

Are you motivated by helping young people feel safe, understood, and able to engage in learning?

Aspira Education are recruiting a confident and resilient SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a specialist independent school setting supporting pupils aged 6–16 with SEMH, ADHD, EBD and other behavioural difficulties.

This is a highly supportive environment combining academic learning with therapeutic provision to help pupils develop independence and achieve their goals.

Hours

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3.50pm (Thursday finish at 4.20pm)

About the Role

As an SEN Behaviour Support Assistant you will:

- Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across the school day.
- Help pupils with ASD, anxiety, and communication needs engage in structured learning.
- Use calm, consistent behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe environment.
- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Support emotional regulation using a patient and relational approach.
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.

Every day is different, so flexibility and confidence are key.

About the School

This is within a specialist day school in Swadlincote, Derbyshire for pupils aged 6–16.

The school provides a warm, inclusive environment combining mainstream learning with specialist therapeutic support so every pupil can develop, thrive, and move towards independence.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from backgrounds such as:

- SEN or school support roles
- Youth work, residential care or mentoring
- Health & social care
- Sports coaching or behavioural support

You don’t need formal teaching qualifications, but you must:

✔ Be calm and confident under pressure
✔ Have strong communication skills
✔ Be patient and resilient
✔ Build rapport quickly
✔ Be consistent with boundaries

Presence and attitude matter more than experience.

All Applicants Must Have

- The right to work in the UK
- A fully enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two recent references
- A willingness to complete safeguarding training with Aspira
- Ability to start ASAP

- Must have a full driving licence and access to a car!
