Join the Bloom Movement
Are you interested in working with children but not sure where to start?
Bloom is offering 24 people the opportunity to take part in a 6-week Early Years Apprenticeship Taster Placement this summer.
This programme is designed for people who are curious about childcare, interested in Early Years, and want to understand what working in a nursery is really like before applying for a full apprenticeship opportunity.
You do not need to already be qualified.
You do not need years of experience.
You need the right attitude, reliability, kindness, energy, and a genuine interest in helping children learn, grow and thrive.
About the Summer Placement
The placement will run for 1 day per week over 6 weeks at one of our Bloom settings.
During the programme, you will spend time in a real nursery environment, supported by experienced practitioners and leaders.
You will get the chance to understand:
- What Early Years childcare involves
- What a nursery day looks like
- How staff support children’s care, learning and development
- The importance of safeguarding, routines and relationships
- What is expected from an apprentice
- Whether a childcare apprenticeship is the right pathway for you
This is not just about us seeing whether you may be suitable for Bloom.
It is also about you deciding whether Early Years and Bloom is genuinely right for you.
Why Bloom?
Bloom is growing, and we believe in developing our own people.
Many future nursery practitioners, room leaders and managers start by learning the basics properly. This taster placement is a first step for people who may want to progress into a formal Early Years Apprenticeship with Bloom.
At Bloom, we are looking for people with potential.
People who care.
People who are willing to learn.
People who want a real career, not just a job.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your placement, you may support the nursery team with age-appropriate activities and daily routines under supervision.
This may include:
- Spending time in nursery rooms with experienced staff
- Observing how practitioners care for and support children
- Helping with play-based activities
- Supporting mealtimes, outdoor play and group activities
- Learning about nursery routines and expectations
- Understanding safeguarding and professional standards
- Asking questions and taking part in feedback conversations
- Learning what an Early Years Apprentice role would involve
You will be fully supported throughout the placement.
You will not be expected to know everything.
You will be expected to listen, learn, be reliable, and show the right attitude.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for people who are:
- Interested in working with children
- Caring, patient and kind
- Reliable and punctual
- Positive and willing to learn
- Able to follow instructions
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Open to feedback
- Serious about exploring a career in childcare
- Professional around children, families and staff
Previous childcare experience is helpful, but not essential.
This Opportunity May Suit You If:
- You are considering an Early Years Apprenticeship
- You want to earn while you learn in the future
- You are leaving school, college or another job
- You want to understand childcare before committing
- You have helped with younger siblings, family members or children before
- You are looking for a career with progression
- You want to work in a supportive nursery environment
What Happens After the Placement?
At the end of the 6-week programme, suitable candidates may be invited to apply for a full Early Years Apprenticeship opportunity at a Bloom setting.
Progression is not guaranteed.
This placement is designed to help both you and Bloom understand whether an apprenticeship would be the right next step.
If you show the right attitude, commitment and potential, this could be the start of your Bloom journey.
Important Information
Places are limited to 24 candidates across our 8 participating Bloom settings.
Because this is a nursery environment, all applicants must be suitable to work around children. Any progression into an apprenticeship role will be subject to safer recruitment checks, references and an enhanced DBS check.
Knowsley residents must apply through Knowsley Works:

Non-Knowsley residents may apply through Indeed.
