Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong interest in food preparation, cooking, and hospitality. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operations, assisting in food production, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred, but a keen willingness to learn and develop culinary skills is essential. This paid position provides valuable hands-on experience in a professional kitchen setting, ideal for aspiring chefs looking to advance their careers.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in food production, ensuring timely delivery of meals
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Contribute to the presentation of dishes to meet quality standards
Help supervise junior team members when required, fostering a collaborative work environment
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold hygiene standards
Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices
Proven ability to work efficiently within a team environment
Leadership qualities with some supervising experience preferred
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning
Knowledge of restaurant operations and serving procedures is advantageous
