Full job description

Job Summary
Par Garden Centre Café is seeking a friendly and efficient Part Time Café Assistant to join our team.

We are a very busy, customer focused Restaurant & Café, seating 120 plus customers, we provide freshly made food and a selection of delicious cakes and coffees. With growth year on year we are looking to expand our team, if you thrive on busy, love to give excellent customer service and can work calmly in a busy environment this is the job for you.

This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing beverages and light food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, good organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively during busy periods. This position offers flexible hours suitable for those seeking part-time employment with opportunities to develop their skills in a vibrant café setting.

Responsibilities

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
Prepare and serve cakes, cold food and beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or snacks as required
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all aspects of work
Serve customers in a courteous and professional manner, creating a welcoming atmosphere
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
Keep the café clean and tidy, including clearing tables, washing dishes, and sanitising surfaces
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Qualifications

Previous barista experience or food service background is essential;
Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions confidently
Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Strong communication skills with a friendly attitude towards customers
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
Organised with attention to detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness and service
