Who Are GuyKat?
GuyKat is a multi-award-winning eLearning agency based in Birmingham (UK). We also have a sister company in the US, based in Tampa, Florida. We work with some of the largest brands on the planet. At our heart, we are a people-orientated professional services company. We help clients use technology to share knowledge.
Role Description – Junior Learning Designer
GuyKat is looking for a Junior Learning Designer to join our Content team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for someone looking to start their career in Learning Experience Design.
In this role, you’ll support the team in creating engaging digital learning experiences for our clients. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside Learning Experience Designers to understand how learning solutions are designed, built, and delivered.
You’ll assist with tasks such as researching content, supporting storyboard creation, helping to shape learning journeys, and contributing to creative ideas for eLearning modules, videos, and blended learning solutions. You’ll also have the opportunity to observe and gradually get involved in client-facing activities such as workshops and feedback sessions.
This is a learning-focused role, so you’ll be supported in developing your skills in instructional design, creativity, and problem-solving. You’ll be encouraged to explore new tools, technologies, and approaches, and contribute ideas to help enhance the experiences we create.
We’re looking for someone who is curious, proactive, and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in design, storytelling, and creating engaging user experiences. You should be comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and open to feedback as you grow in the role.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re not expecting loads of experience for this role, instead, we’re looking for someone who is creative, curious, and genuinely interested in learning design and digital experiences.
You might have some exposure to instructional design, content creation, or design tools through studies, personal projects, or internships, but it’s not essential. What matters most is your willingness to learn, take on feedback, and get stuck in.
You should be comfortable sharing ideas, both visually and verbally, and enjoy collaborating with others to bring those ideas to life. You’re proactive, organised, and happy to support across different tasks and projects as you build your experience.
As this is a learning-focused role, we’re looking for someone who is eager to develop their skills, open to guidance, and motivated to grow within a fast-paced team environment.
Required Skills (or a willingness to learn):
- Interest in instructional design and creating engaging learning experiences
- Understanding of digital content creation (e.g. eLearning, video, presentations, etc.)
- Strong written and visual communication skills
- Willingness to learn authoring tools such as Articulate, Vyond, FLOWSPARKS, Colossyan or similar
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage your time effectively
- High attention to detail
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Open to feedback and eager to improve
- Familiarity with common workplace tools (e.g. Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams)
- Interest in learning new tools, technologies, and industry trends
Desirable (but not essential):
- Any experience (academic or personal) creating digital content or learning materials
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Trello)
What We Offer If this sounds like you, here’s what you can expect from us:
The role is officially based full time at GuyKat offices in Birmingham. In practice, most of our team currently enjoy flexible hybrid working, with an expectation that people attend the office at least 2 days per week for the first 2 years of employment. You may also be required to attend the office more often to support the business when meetings, workshops, and other such activities are required.
Clear, structured career progression. We don’t hire to fill a role, we hire for the long term. From day one, we’ll be working with you to develop your skills, expand your responsibilities, and help you grow into something bigger than the role you started in.
Salary range:£27,000 - £30,000
PLEASE INCLUDE A COVER LETTER WITH YOUR APPLICATION!
You must submit a CV and a cover letter. The cover letter is far more important than the CV. Applications without a cover letter will be automatically rejected.
By all means use AI to help spell check or review your cover letter - but please write the substantive cover letter yourself, using your own voice. If you bang this ad through AI and say 'write me a cover letter' you'll produce something the same as 90% of the others we get. If somehow you made the interview, you'd be caught out there. Be you.
Your cover letter should explain what attracted you to the role and why GuyKat appeals to you. If your personality comes through, even better! We’re looking for natural communicators.
