Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Chip Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering excellent customer service and an interest in the culinary and hospitality industry. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook traditional chip shop favourites, ensuring quality and consistency
Serve customers efficiently at the counter, taking orders and processing payments
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, adhering to food safety standards
Assist with stock replenishment and inventory management
Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their needs promptly
Assist with general cleaning duties to uphold hygiene standards throughout the shop

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation, restaurant service, or kitchen work is advantageous but not essential
Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures is preferred
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Strong organisational skills with good time management abilities
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment
Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills
Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required
